Regional and according to Frisian culture
We cook daily with fresh ingredients in our hotel and prefer to work with respectful, sustainably produced food.

Regional cuisine
The best is just good enough. We attach great importance to freshness and quality. In our kitchen we process primarily regional products. Enjoy the authentic atmosphere, original delicacies and select service of our house.
A voluntary commitment:
The Jeverland Food Chamber
A network of farmers, vegetable growers, butchers, restaurateurs and other supporters from the Jeverland region who are committed to the production, use and marketing of food from the region and have pledged to adhere to the principles overleaf. Only main ingredients of regional production are used for the dishes listed on this menu.
We want to introduce our guests and customers to the peculiarities of our homeland and culture and provide them with a characteristic taste experience with selected regional delicacies and dishes.
That’s why we adhere to these four principles:
Home, North Sea coast, dikes, mudflats, sandbanks and salt marshes, sluices and tideways, salty air and fresh breezes, marshland, green pastures and forests, healthy drinking water, wild herb and orchard meadows, uniqueness of flora and fauna, diversity and exclusivity of local foodstuffs.
- Preservation of the local cultural landscape and regional biodiversity
- Promoting climate protection and regional identity
- Preservation of the exclusivity and quality of domestic products
- Rediscovering typical crops and recipes to promote diversity
- Cooperation between producers and processors to strengthen tourism and the (rural) economy.
- supra-regional promotion of Jeverland through typical regional products (e.g. Wadden Sea ham, dyke cheese, Jeverländer, etc.) and dishes, culinary tours and producer visits
- Less environmental impact
- Freshness and aroma are preserved
- sustainable production and manufacturing
- Conserve resources
- Gastronomy: 2-3 seasonal dishes from regional raw materials on the menu, presentation of the origin of the main ingredients used.
- Producers: traceable origin and sustainable production of foodstuffs
- General: independent control of production and commodity routes, purchase obligation in case of joint ordering of products (e.g. new old grain varieties), preservation of experimentation and innovation.

Sustainable cuisine
Do you know where the consumer goods you buy in the supermarket come from? For many, probably not. In our hotel you can be sure: The food used in the kitchen comes predominantly from regional farm production. Sustainability also has something to do with dealing with people. The most important thing, however, is that at the Hotel im Schützenhof Jever we will pamper you with all the comforts and genuine Frisian coziness. Enjoy the warm hospitality of Friesland!
Sustainability using the example of our mineral water
“Viva con Agua mineral water is VcA’s first social business model. We see the link between business and social issues as an innovative way to improve the global water situation. In addition to the activities of our non-profit association, we also want to use economic concepts to generate fundraising and awareness for the water projects we support. So by buying VcA mineral water, everyone can play a part in providing more people with access to clean drinking water and basic sanitation through a simple everyday purchase decision.
The majority of Viva con Agua Wasser GmbH is in the hands of the non-profit organization. Directing decisions are therefore always made by the association and the foundation. Supporting water projects is not a marketing move for us, but a corporate goal and founding purpose. Viva con Agua mineral water is far more than just a business model: it is an ambassador for the goals of the association and the foundation.” Viva con Agua (VcA) is a meaningful community that joyfully changes the world in a positive way. A network of people and organizations working for decent access to clean drinking water and basic sanitation.
Clean drinking water and basic sanitation for all. Help with simple means and the right decision.

Beer garden
On the garden terrace, the “lemongrass” cuisine tastes even better. When the weather is nice – and we often have that here – we like to serve in the large beer garden next to our hotel in the Schützenhof Jever. Our fine regional cuisine & the Frisian fresh air: it’s just a perfect match!
Pure atmosphere!
A highlight of the beer garden are the tables and chairs. Hotelier Stephan Eden wanted something special and, above all, sustainable for his hotel restaurant. And so the entire furniture was made from wood remnants of a roof truss construction from Jever. In this idyllic atmosphere, surrounded by old trees, it tastes even better.
Our beer garden at the Schützenhof Jever is also a popular place to stop for lunch or to wind down in the evening. What could be better than a cold Jever Pilsener, a cold spritzer or a delicious wine? Refresh yourself in summer in our beer garden and enjoy the cool shade of the trees. Here’s to one with Jeverländer!

The herbal bitter "Jeverländer
has a future again.
The “Jeverländer” has long been known not only by the locals. The traditional herbal schnapps is already since 1888 also guests a boon after a rich meal. After some 40 years, hotelier Stephan Eden has bought back the rights to it from Hermann Luiken and is helping the fine traditional product to an exciting future.
Back in the house after generations
“It has been clear to me for ten years that I would buy back the Jeverländer as soon as the opportunity arose,” says hotelier Stephan Eden of the Schützenhof Jever. The brand has been with him all his life. As a child, he said, he found old promotional items like historic ashtrays in his grandfather’s attic. “My father told me a lot about the “Jeverländer”. And I could sense that he would very much like this traditional product to be back in the hands of our family,” explains Stephan Eden. That is why the restaurateur is now planning the future of the brand. There will also be a separate exhibition space dedicated to the “Jeverländer.””
